Flowering Behavior and Selection of Hybrid Potato Clones through LXT Breeding Approaches

Potato breeding in Bangladesh is very challenging because it grown the short winter season, and flowering does not occur naturally, explaining why artificial lighting extra care are needed. In addition, scheme mainly focused on improving potato yield, followed by tuber quality. The goal of this study was to choose male parents, as well effect environment, fruit (berry) setting estimate combining ability among promising BARI-released varieties second filial generation. Lines seven Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) were crossed with two BARI variety parents tester (Line × tester). Alu-86, Alu-72, Alu-73, Alu-53 selected best based abundance pollen set. both years, flower initiation days varied clones. For majority traits, such plant height, number, yield per plant, variance general (GCA) specific (SCA) varied. inheritance considered trait predominant non-additive gene action. Concerning ability, for ‘BARI Alu-41’ Alu-53’, stem hill, Alu-79′, Alu-37’, Alu-37’ Alu-79’ contributed complementary favorable alleles. indicated Alu-86’ Alu-77’ Alu-72’ potential hybrid families production improved genotypes number. This will help design a program following population development selection progeny before their utilization progenitors.
